Vintage Le Gran Superautomatic 10 ATM Diver withMint Dial, Warm Patina, All SS Case
This vintage 1970’s Le Gran Superautomatic diver has a pristine glossy black “T SWISS T” signed dial that is free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The bezel, which smoothly rotates bidirectionally, looks great. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows minor wear and is free of any significant dents or dings. The case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL – SWISS MADE – SHOCKRESISTANT – WATERRESISTANT – TESTED 333 FEET – 10 ATMOS” with “LEGRAN CO” stamped on the inside of the case back. The crystal shows light scratching. Please note that over the past several decades some dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring, settling on the underbelly of the crystal and to a lesser degree the dial. A skilled watchmaker will be able to quickly and easily remove this dust/debris. The quickset date function works flawlessly by either pushing in on the crown or by rolling over a new date and then repeatedly moving the hour hand between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 30 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Although this watch runs strong and keeps near perfect time, given its vintage nature and unknown service history (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or movement), a complete overhaul is recommended to keep it running strong. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 13 mm. Although this watch runs strong and keeps accurate time, given that it is approximately 45 years old and considering that the movement appears to have never been serviced, a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. The item “Vintage Le Gran Superautomatic 10 ATM Diver withMint Dial, Warm Patina, All SS Case” is in sale since Thursday, March 12, 2020. Considering that this watch has likely never been serviced, a complete overhaul is suggested. This vintage Elgin M135 is in wonderful condition. The matte black dial is pristine, free of any scratches, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which is fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a toasted French vanilla hue. The orange seconds hand has faded to a slightly lighter shade than the vibrant orange found on the bezel, creating a beautiful contrast and giving the dial a wonderful energy. The orange and black bezel looks great and rotates bidirectionally. The all stainless steel case is very clean, showing minor signs of use and still retaining its original brushed satin finish. It is free of any noticeable dents or dings. The case back is stamped “ELGIN” followed by “STAINLESS STEEL” while the inside of the case back is stamped “GRABER” followed by “SWITZERLAND” and 4156. The crystal has light scratching. Please note that there is some minor oxidation on the retaining ring (to the left and right above 1 o’clock), which can likely be removed with a wirebrush during service. Additionally, while the dial appears flawless, over time some dust/debris has gotten between the retaining ring and crystal, settling on the underbelly of the crystal and to a lesser degree the dial. This dust/debris can be easily and quickly removed by a watchmaker using some Rodico and or a dial brush. On the wrist the dial looks spectacular, with the dust/debris being visually imperceptible. The 25 jewels PUW 1463 patented automatic movement with quickset date is lovely and keeps accurate time. Please refer to the asterisked section at the top and bottom of this listing description for more details. After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions the watch had a very healthy power reserve of approximately 37 hours. The sharply threaded, non-dented crown winds buttery smooth. The quickset date function works by repeatedly moving the hour hand between hours 20 and 24 until arriving at the desired date. This watch measures approximately 36.5 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Vintage Impec Divers Watch withMint Dial, Warm Patina, Countdown Bezel, All SS Case
This uber rare vintage 1970’s Impec diver has a glossy black dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visible scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. Please note that over the past several decades significant dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring, settling on the underbelly of the crystal and to a lesser degree onto the dial. While the lume on the dial markers has aged to a light pistachio hue and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, the lume on the hands has developed a lovely rich golden butterscotch color that emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light. This subtle contrast in patina is beautiful, in my humble opinion. The faded black fat font countdown bezel, which rotates stiffly bidirectionally, looks great. The heavy duty all stainless steel case is in wonderful condition showing minor wear and is free of any noticeable dents or dings. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS – STEEL – ANTIMAGNETIC” with “100%” followed by “WATERPROOF TESTED, “”20 ATMOSPHERES” and “42450” stamped in the center. While the integrity of the crystal appears to be intact it should be replaced as it is heavily scratched. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown winds a bit stiffly. Although the movement runs strong and keeps near perfect time, given its vintage nature and unknown service history (there is one visible watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back), a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 18.75 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm. This watch comes on a high quality NOS black NATO strap. Although this watch currently runs strong and keeps near perfect time, given that it is over 40 years old and considering that the movement appears to have only been serviced once in its lifetime, a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Vintage Tradition Divers Watch withMint Dial, Quickset Date, Warm Patina, All SS Case
This classy vintage Tradition appears to be in completely original and untouched condition. The matte taupe “Swiss Made” signed dial is pristine and free of any scratches, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, all of which remain intact, match perfectly and has aged to a beautiful golden butterscotch hue. The tritium emits a faint, short lived glow after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which complements the dial beautifully, rotates bidirectionally and the color of the inverted triangle matches the patina on the dial and hands perfectly. The all stainless steel case is in wonderful shape, showing light wear and without any significant dents or dings. The outside of the case back, which shows scratching, is stamped Water+Shock Resistant Antimagnetic Stainless Steel Automatic Swiss. ” The inside of the the case back is engraved “Sears Roebuck Co Swiss Made 10742. The superdome crystal has some scuffing. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss stamped “SEARS ROEBUCK CO” AS 1913 automatic movement with quickset date function is pristine (some black can be seen from the deteriorated rubber case back gasket, but the movement itself is exceptionally clean) but does run several minutes slow over the course of 24 hours. After recently winding the crown 21 full revolutions the watch had a solid power reserve of approximately 31 hours. The sharply threaded, non-dented crown winds smoothly and the quickset date feature works by pushing in on the crown. Considering that this watch is over 40 years old, runs slow and has likely never been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back and the black rubber gasket has degraded), a complete overhaul is suggested. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the caseback to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12 mm. As mentioned above, although this watch runs strong, albeit slow , this is a vintage watch that appears to have never been serviced in its lifetime. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watching running strong. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Polyester is a category of polymers that contain the ester functional group in their main chain. As a specific material, it most commonly refers to a type called polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Polyesters include naturally occurring chemicals, such as in the cutin of plant cuticles, as well as synthetics through step-growth polymerization such as polybutyrate. Natural polyesters and a few synthetic ones are biodegradable, but most synthetic polyesters are not. This material is used very widely in clothing. The DWR treatment is the first line of defense against wet weather conditions and prevents the face fabric from becoming saturated. DWR is a polymer applied to the face fabric that creates microscopic pegs, or hairs, that protrude from the fabric. These pegs encourage the water droplets to band together and roll off, instead of spreading out along the face of the fabric and soaking through. This breathable warming technology helps regulate your temperature with little silver dots that reflect and retain the warmth your body generates. MEN’S SIZE CHART – JACKETS AND TOPS.
