Vintage La Cloche Sub 200 Chronograph withMint Dial, Patina, Divers All SS Case
This rarely seen vintage La Cloche Sub 200 two-register chronograph has a black “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. Please note that there is some dust/debris on the underbelly of the crystal. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. What makes this dial special and unique, other than it being in mint condition, is that only its top half has tritium-applied markers. The acrylic bezel , which rotates bidirectionally with the appropriate amount of tension and shows moderate wear , looks great. The massive all stainless steel case is, in my humble opinion, the highlight of this watch. It is beautifully cut and in wonderful condition. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “SWISS MADE SUPER WATERPROOF GUARANTEED 20 ATU SHOCK PROOF” with “905102 S” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped 3930 A. The crystal shows scratching with some dust/debris on its underbelly. The Landeron 248 manual wind movement is exceptionally clean, runs strong keeping accurate time and all chronograph functions work as they should. The top pusher starts the sweep seconds hand and the bottom pusher stops and resets the sweep seconds and minute counter (right subdial) back to precisely 0. The pushers have a wonderful catch and release feel with no signs of gumminess. After recently winding the sharply threaded screwdown crown 53 full revolutions (phenomenal for a manual wind) the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown unscrews and screws back in perfectly as it should and winds beautifully. Given that this watch is approximately 45 years old and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement), a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 40 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45 mm including the crown and approximately 22 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. Although the movement runs strong keeping accurate time and works perfectly as it should, considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Vintage Hamilton Day-Date withMint Dial, Warm Patina, All SS Divers Case, Runs Strong
This seldom seen vintage Hamilton day-date has a matte black “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. This reference never came with a bezel. The all stainless steel case shows minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “STAINLESS STEEL – WATERRESISTANT” with “825011 -3″ stamped in the center. The crystal should be replaced as it shows scratching, warping and chipping around the edges. While I normally show pictures of the movement of watches that I put up for sale the case back on this one is torqued too tight for me to remove. A skilled watchmaker will have no problems doing so. The automatic movement with quickset day and date function keeps accurate time and both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. The quickset date function works by pulling out the crown to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. The quickset day function works in precisely the same manner except the crown is turned counterclockwise. After winding the Hamilton signed, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The crown winds smoothly. Given the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures 11 mm. Although the movement is currently running strong and keeping accurate time, given its unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Vintage Westclox Chronograph withMint Dial, Patina, Divers All SS Case, Valjoux 7733
This vintage Westclox two-register chronograph appears to be in untouched condition. It has a light silver “SWISS” only signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The black bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped “ANTIMAGNETIC ALL STAINLESS STEEL CASE 634111 WATERRESISTANT SHOCKRESISTANT” with “WESTCLOX” and “600 FEET TESTED” stamped in the center. While the integrity of the crystal appears to be intact it should be replaced as it is heavily scratched and gouged. While I normally shows pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale, the case back on this one is torqued to what feels like factory specs. A skilled watchmaker will have no problems removing the case back. Having owned several identical examples of this reference and given the pusher action the movement is a Valjoux 7733 manual wind that keeps accurate time with all chronograph functions working as they should. The top pusher starts and stops the sweep seconds hand and the bottom pusher resets the sweep seconds hand and minute register (right subdial) back to precisely 0. Both pushers have a pleasant catch and release feel with no signs of gumminess. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 50 full revolutions (phenomenal for a manual wind) the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 43 hours. The crown winds beautifully. Given that this watch is more than 45 years old and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced (case back shows no signs of ever having been removed) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 11 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 13 mm. Although this watch runs strong, keeps accurate time and all chronograph functions work as they should, given its vintage nature and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced, a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. While the movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 43 hour power reserve period and the hacking feature works perfectly as it should, the crown is a bit difficult to pull out and in my humble opinion winds tightly. It should be wound slowly and methodically. Given this and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. This vintage Glycine Airman has a matte black “-T-SWISS-T-” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. Any imperfections seen are on the crystal. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm golden buttermilk hue. The stainless steel bezel, which looks great and rotates smoothly bidirectionally when unlocked, shows some enamel paint loss. To unlock the bezel the lower crown needs to be unscrewed. To lock the bezel the lower crown simply needs to be screwed back down. The all stainless steel case shows moderate wear with no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “STAINLESS STEEL AUTOMATIC WATERPROOF INCABLOC SWISS” with PAT. 314050″ followed by “869426. Over time these stampings have worn down and appear faint. The crystal shows scratching and warping around the edges which can be clearly seen in pictures 8 and 9. In person the crystal presents nicely. While I normally show movement pictures I don’t have the appropriate tool to remove the case back on this one. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. The hacking feature works perfectly as it should by pulling out the crown and seeing the seconds hand being stopped by a small. 06 mm steel wire that pops up between the “2” and “4” of the 24. After winding the sharply threaded, correct cross-hatched crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 43 hours. The crown is a bit difficult to pull out and in my humble opinion winds tightly. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. This watch comes on a beige NATO strap that is in good condition. While the movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 43 hour power reserve period and both the quickset date function and hacking feature work perfectly as they should, the crown is a bit difficult to pull out and winds tightly. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Runs strong with both the day and date wheels rolling over as they should occasionally and inconsistently the movement slows by several minutes in the middle of the night, likely leading up to the day and date wheels rolling over. When this happens I’ll reset the time in the morning and it’ll resume keeping accurate time. Given that the movement shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. This vintage Chronosport S. Day-date has a matte black “T-SWISS MADE-T” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The bezel, which ratchets counterclockwise, has lots of character and presents beautifully. The coated all stainless steel case shows minor wear with some loss of coating. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE 30 ATM/1000 FEET 186 682″ with “3218” stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped “BREVET + 503305″ followed by M. SA, SWITZERLAND, CHRONOSPORT, INC. The crystal shows light scratching that is nearly visually imperceptible in person. The 1 jewel unadjusted Swiss “CHRONOSPORT” stamped ETA 555.125 quartz controlled hacking movement with quickset day and date functions runs strong and keeps accurate time. However, occasionally and inconsistently the movement slows by several minutes in the middle of the night, likely leading up to the day and date wheels rolling over. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling out the crown to the first position and turning it clockwise. The quickset day function works in the precisely the same manner with the exception of the crown being turned counterclockwise. The screwdown crown, which shows wear, unscrews and screws back down without issue. Given the mentioned issue and considering that the movement shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. The crystal adds no measurable thickness. This watch comes on what I believe to be the original canvas strap, which is in great condition. I have an old Chronosport brochure that shows the S. Being offered on either a bracelet or canvas strap (which looks identical to this one). Given that the movement occasionally and inconsistently loses time in the middle of the night and considering that it likely has never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. While the movement runs strong with both the day and date wheels rolling over as they should occasionally and inconsistently the movement slows by several minutes in the middle of the night, likely leading up to the day and date wheels rolling over. While the movement runs strong it does run about 5.5 hours fast over its approximate 42 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering that the movement shows no clear sign of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. This seldom seen vintage Technos Sky Light has a black “SWISS” only signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged beautifully. This reference came with a fixed bezel. The all stainless steel case shows minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped ANTIMAGNETIC WATER PROOF AUTOMATIC. While I’m not certain there may have been an inlay in the center of the case back that is now missing. The inside of the case back is stamped “TECHNOS” followed by “STAINLESS STEEL” and 2632. ” Between the lugs at 6 o’clock is the stamping “S2F0772. The crystal should be replaced as it shows deep scratching. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the Technos signed, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement was running about 5.5 hours fast by the end of its approximate 42 hour power reserve period. The crown winds smoothly. Given that the movement runs fast and considering that it shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38 mm including the crown and approximately 18.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. The all stainless steel Technos band looks great. I imagine that it will comfortably accommodate up to a 7 inch wrist. Given that the movement runs fast and considering that it appears to have never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended.
The crystal shows scratching. The stainless steel bezel, which looks great and rotates smoothly bidirectionally when unlocked, shows some enamel loss to the markers and numbers. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale I don’t have the appropriate tool to remove the case back on this one. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Vintage Paul Portinoux Chronograph withMint Tropical Brown Dial, Divers All SS Case
This rarely seen vintage Paul Portinoux two-register chronograph has a “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that was originally born black but over the past several decades has turned naturally to a tropical brown color. It is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. In my humble opinion this dial is of museum quality. Please note that the first three pictures of the dial were taken in natural light (cloudy, overcast conditions) while pictures four through seven were taken on flash to more adequately show what the dial looks like under bright or sunlit conditions. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a warm buttermilk patina. This patina complements the brown dial perfectly. It appears that the sweep seconds hand was originally red to match the seconds counter (left subdial) but over time the red paint has morphed into black (there are documented cases of this chemical pathway). The all stainless steel case is beautifully and uniquely cut, displaying knurled lugs and sharp beveled edges. The case craftsmanship is truly special. It is in excellent condition showing light wear and free of any visibly noticeable dents or dings. The outside of the case back, which shows scratching, is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL WATERRESISTANT INCABLOC ANTIMAGNETIC SWISS MADE” with J. P PINGOUIN CO” followed by “SWISS MADE stamped in the inside of the case back. The crystal shows light scratching and a small crack near the 7 and 8 o’clock marker. In person this crack is not easily noticeable and it appears that the integrity of the crystal remains intact. But it is recommended that the crystal be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted J. PINGOUIN Co stamped Valjoux 7733 manual wind movement is clean, keeps accurate time and all chronograph functions work as they should. The top pusher starts and stops the sweep seconds hand and the bottom pusher resets the sweep seconds and minute counter (right subdial) back to precisely 0. The pushers have a nice catch and release feel with no signs of gumminess. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 35 full revolutions, which is exceptional for a manual wind, the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Given that this watch is approximately 45 years old and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement), a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. Although the movement runs strong, keeps near perfect time and all chronograph functions work as they should, given the vintage nature of this watch and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced, a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
