Vintage 1974 Caravelle 666 Feet Diver withMint Dial, Patina, All SS Case, Runs Strong
This vintage 1974 Caravelle has a matte black dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow on the hands only after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a golden buttermilk hue. The vibrant orange seconds hand complements the dial and patina beautifully. The bezel, which rotates a bit stiffly bidirectionally, is in excellent condition as is the jet black insert. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows minor wear with the exception of a ding on the chamfer above the bottom right lug. The case shows no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “CARAVELLE SHOCK RESISTANT WATER-RESISTANT TO 666 FEET STAINLESS STEEL ANTI MAGNETIC” with “N 4″ stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped “3286-DP” followed by “CARAVELLE DIV, “B. The crystal shows scratching and some dust/debris on its underbelly. The 17 jewels unadjusted Japan “II DP” and “N 4″ stamped manual wind movement is clean, runs strong and keeps accurate time. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown “C” signed crown 45 full revolutions (phenomenal for a manual wind) the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Given that this watch is 45 years old and the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. Given the vintage nature of this watch and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. YOU GOTTA LOVE THESE VINTAGE SEIKO EARLY AUTOMATIC DIVERS… Has inner rotating timer bezel. Don’t miss this one. BUILT IN DECEMBER 1970. IT IS AN ORIGINAL EXAMPLE IN TERRIFIC CONDITION OVERALL. THE WATCH FEATURES A BLACK DIAL WITH SILVER STICK MARKERS. THIS HANDSOME DIAL IS THE UNTOUCHED ORIGINAL IN SUPER CONDITION NO FADING, STAIN OR PATINA. THE HANDS ARE ALSO THE UNTOUCHED ORIGINAL SILVER STICK HANDS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH SOME MINOR LUME STAIN. THE DAY-DATE DISPLAY AT 3 O’CLOCK IS SET USING QUICKSET AND WORKS WELL. THE DAY LANGUAGE IS ENGLISH OR KANJI. THE ORIGINAL HARDEX GLASS CRYSTAL IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITHOUT ANY SCRATCHES. THE ORIGINAL INNER ROTATING ELAPSED TIME BEZEL IS IN VEXCELLENT CONDITION, AND ROTATES SMOOTHLY IN EITHER DIRECTION BY TURNING THE ORIGINAL CROWN. THE ORIGINAL SOLID STAINLESS STEEL CASE IS IN GREAT CONDITION WITH A FEW HAIRLINE SCRATCHES. THE STAINLESS STEEL BACK PLATE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION/. ALL MARKINGS ARE CLEAR AND EASY TO READ. THE ORIGINAL AND CORRECT SEIKO LOGOED STAINLESS STEEL BRACELET IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND WILL FIT UP TO A 7 1/2 WRIST. THE ORIGINAL BRACLET ADDS VALUE TO A VINTAGE TIMEPIECE. THE WATCH WAS RECENTLY SERVICED AND TIMED. IT WAS FOUND TO KEEP VERY GOOD TIME FOR A VINTAGE AUTOMATIC WATCH. IT IS A MEN’S SIZED WATCH AT 41MM ACROSS, NOT INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL STAINLESS STEEL CROWN, x 43 MM LUG TO LUG. PRODUCTION DATE OF OF DEC 1970. Thanks to my friend Glenn for his EXPERTISE on these vintage timepieces. Seiko introduced a lot of different “Sport Diver” lines, so-called because of their use of the term “Sports” on the dial. These generally were not true divers, but rated at 70M and sharing some features of a true diver, such as this watch The 7019 is a particularly hard-to-find, I dare say “rare” line of these watches(especia;y a 6010), when compared to the much more common 6106/6119 lines and the also rare, but still more common 5126 w. Clusively “JDM, ” or “Japanese Domestic Model” line, reflected by the day wheel’s languages of English and Kanji, also regarded as a big perk by collectors. THIS A VERY RARE VINTAGE SEIKO MEN’S 70 METER SPORT DIVER, ONE OF THE UNIQUE 21 JEWEL MODELS, IN AN ORIGINAL UN-MOLESTED COLLECTORS CONDITION, A HARD TO FIND WATCH. Most coming from overseas. Beware, as many are junk and have parts pieced together from many different watches. Not easy to return these Junk timepieces. At least I know where my watches come from and what’s inside them. BECAUSE IT IS A VINTAGE AUTOMATIC WATCH, THERE IS GOING TO BE DIMINISHED RESERVE POWER(HOW LONG IT RUNS WHEN IT IS TAKEN OFF THE WRIST). THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH MOSTLY ALL VINTAGE AUTOMATICS.. MANY NEW ONES CAN GET UP TO 40HRS RUNNING OFF THE WRIST. DO NOT EXPECT MORE THEN 8-12 HRS RUNNING WHEN OFF. Please remember these are NOT new automatic watches even though they were serviced, you will have to gently shake the watch in a clockwise or counter clockwise movement to get the rotor working properly. This is especially true when the watch has not been worn for some time. Reserve power has to build up for sometime to keep the watch running when not worn.. JUST A PERSONAL NOTE ABOUT THIS WATCH. DURING THIS TIME I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT I CANNOT MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY lol.. IF ITEM IS NOT AS DESCRIBED OR DAMAGED. I always try to deal with my customers professionally, and ask that they extend me the same courtesy. After winding the crown I’ve found it necessary to gently spin the watch face down on a soft, flat surface in order to jump-start the movement. Once it gets going I’ve observed the movement keep accurate time over an approximate 38 hour power reserve period. This vintage 1976 Bulova Caravelle diver has a gray dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. In my humble opinion it presents much better in person than in the pictures. The original lume on the dial and hands, which emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The bezel , which should rotate but does not likely due to gunk buildup underneath , has aged to a lovely pink and black color combination. The beautifully cut all stainless steel case is in excellent condition showing minor wear and no signs of oxidation. The inside of the case back is stamped “Q 106″ followed by “CARAVELLE WATCH DIVISION, “BULOVA WATCH CO. The crystal shows scratching and some dust/debris on its underbelly. The 17 jewels unadjusted “II DP” and “N 5″ stamped manual wind movement is clean and keeps accurate time. After winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 35 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Please note that I’ve found it necessary to gently spin the watch face down on a soft, flat surface after winding the crown in order to jump-start the movement. Given that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. Given that the movement appears to have never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such no warranties, express or implied, are attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. FOR REPAIR – while the date and time can be set without issue and the movement runs, the crown does not wind as it should. Specifically, when winding the crown it does not regularly engage the movement and after every several revolutions there is a relatively loud clicking sound. Although the movement will initially fire up when setting the time, when the crown is wound (and even though it doesn’t sound as though the stem is engaging the movement) I’ve observed the movement run continuously for up to a few hours, keeping accurate time during that period. But if the crown continues to be wound until there is that clicking sound referenced above the seconds hand tends to stop abruptly. Judging by the pristine condition of the dial it’s likely that the movement has never been serviced. A complete overhaul is required. This Le Forban Securite-Mer 15 ATM diver is a wonderful example of a reference not often seen. The glossy black D. Stamped dial looks untouched and is in mint condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original lume, which remains fully intact, emits a quick-burst glow on the hands only after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, looks spectacular with the lume in the inverted triangle having aged to a beautiful creme brulee hue. The stainless steel case is in excellent condition, showing light wear with very minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “ETANCHE A 15 ATMOSPHERES 100%” with “LE FORBAN” followed by “Securite mer” and “49957” stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching. A skilled watchmaker will have no problem doing so. Given that I have only been able to get the movement going by setting the time and winding the crown (gently shaking and or spinning the watch face down on a soft, flat surface does not get the seconds hand moving) the movement should be a manual wind. There is no quickset date function. Given that the crown does not wind as it should and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10 mm. Given the issue with the crown/stem and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Vintage Wittnauer Geneve 4000 Diver Watch withMint Dial, Orange Patina, All SS Case
This Wittnauer Geneve 4000 dive watch has lived a life full of adventure. It has a matte black “T SWISS T” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching orange hue. On the wrist and in person the patina could not be more pleasing in my humble opinion. The original stainless steel bezel, which rotates stiffly bidirectionally, has lost most of its black enamel paint. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows considerable wear, dents and dings. The outside of the case back is stamped “STAINLESS STEEL” with “WITTNAUER WATCH CO INC, “”SWISS” and “C11 KS 4000″ stamped on the inside of the case back. While the crystal shows significant scratching, in my opinion the scratching doesn’t look nearly as pronounced in person as it does in the pictures. But a new crystal is recommended if for no other reason than to bring out the true beauty of the dial and patina. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss WITTNAUER WATCH CO. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the original “W” signed non-screwdown crown 33 full revolutions, which is excellent for a manual wind, the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown winds beautifully. Given that this watch is more than 45 years old with a movement that shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visibly noticeable watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back), a full overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10 mm. This watch comes on a lightly used black NATO strap that is in excellent condition. While the movement runs strong and keeps near perfect time, given its vintage nature and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watch running strong. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Vintage Silvana Diver withMint Orange Dial, Patina, All SS Case, ETA 2472, Runs Strong
This seldom seen vintage Silvana has an orange “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a momentary glow before quickly dissipating, has aged to an orange hue. While under high magnification the lume on the hour hand appears to be a slight shade lighter than the patina on the minute hand and dial, in person this subtle difference is nearly visually imperceptible. The black bezel, which rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents as near pristine with the lume pip complementing the patina on the dial and hands perfectly. The all stainless steel case, which appears to have retained its original brushed satin finish to the top of the mid-case and sharp chamfers, is in excellent condition showing minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF 20 ATU SWISS MADE INCABLOC ANTIMAGNETIC STAINLESS STEEL” with “10824” stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped 2352196. The crystal looks great. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded, screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown winds beautifully. Given that this watch is more than 45 years old and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. Although the movement currently runs strong and keeps accurate time given its vintage nature and considering that it has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. While the movement runs strong and keeps accurate time, the day and date wheels do not roll over. Given this and considering that the movement shows no visible signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. This seldom seen vintage Elgin day-date diver watch has a silvery champagne satin “T Swiss Made T” signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition, showing light markings that are difficult to see and can only be seen from certain angles. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching golden buttermilk hue. The hands show signs of oxidation which in my humble opinion adds oodles of character and the vibrant orange seconds hand gives this watch a wonderful energy. The silver bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with a bit of tension, presents as pristine. The all stainless steel case, which appears to have retained its original brushed satin finish, is in excellent condition showing minor wear and no signs of oxidation. The crystal shows scratching. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss “ELGIN” stamped FHF 909 automatic movement is exceptionally clean, runs strong and keeps accurate time. However, neither the day nor date wheels roll over. After winding the original non-screwdown “E” stamped crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Given that the day and date wheels do not roll over and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. The black 19 mm genuine MOD. SWISSMADE” Tropic strap with signature “ACIER flared buckle is in fully pliable, NOS condition. Given that neither the day nor date wheels roll over and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
