Vintage Waltham Divers/Diving Watch withMint Dial, Signed Crown, All SS Case, Patina
This classy vintage early 1970’s Waltham dive watch with rarely seen Explorer-style dial looks great. The smoky black satin “T Swiss Made T” signed dial looks beautiful, free of any noticeable scratching, chipping, tool marks or defects. All of the dial text and printing is intact and vibrant. The patina of the dial lume dots match the patina of the hands precisely, having aged to a warm and inviting golden buttermilk hue. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact, no longer glows after being exposed to bright light. The vibrant orange seconds hand gives this watch a wonderful energy. The silver bezel, which freely rotates bidirectionally, looks good. The heavy, all stainless steel case appears to be in excellent unpolished condition, showing some scratching but free of any dents, dings or oxidation/rust. The outside of the case back is engraved ALL STAINLESS STEEL CASE AUTOMATIC SWISS MADE WALTHAM. ” The inside of the case back is stamped “WATHAM WATCH Co” followed by “SWISS MADE, 17412-84-5, B339″ and “905. The integrity of the crystal is intact but there is significant scratching. Please note that while the dial appears to be in nearly flawless condition, over time some dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring, settling on the underbelly of the crystal and onto the dial. After recently winding the original “W” signed crown 39 full revolutions the watch had a solid power reserve of approximately 38 hours. The crown winds smoothly. Considering that this watch is over 40 years old and likely hasn’t been serviced in several decades (there is a watchmaker service engraving on the inside of the case back), a complete overhaul is suggested. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12.5 mm. As mentioned above, given the vintage nature of this watch and because it is running fast and the date wheel rolls over prematurely, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watch running strong. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. This vintage 1974 Caravelle has a matte black dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow on the hands only after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a golden buttermilk hue. The vibrant orange seconds hand complements the dial and patina beautifully. The bezel, which rotates a bit stiffly bidirectionally, is in excellent condition as is the jet black insert. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows minor wear with the exception of a ding on the chamfer above the bottom right lug. The case shows no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “CARAVELLE SHOCK RESISTANT WATER-RESISTANT TO 666 FEET STAINLESS STEEL ANTI MAGNETIC” with “N 4″ stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped “3286-DP” followed by “CARAVELLE DIV, “B. The crystal shows scratching and some dust/debris on its underbelly. The 17 jewels unadjusted Japan “II DP” and “N 4″ stamped manual wind movement is clean, runs strong and keeps accurate time. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown “C” signed crown 45 full revolutions (phenomenal for a manual wind) the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Given that this watch is 45 years old and the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. Given the vintage nature of this watch and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. After winding the crown I’ve found it necessary to gently spin the watch face down on a soft, flat surface in order to jump-start the movement. Once it gets going I’ve observed the movement keep accurate time over an approximate 38 hour power reserve period. This vintage 1976 Bulova Caravelle diver has a gray dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. In my humble opinion it presents much better in person than in the pictures. The original lume on the dial and hands, which emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The bezel , which should rotate but does not likely due to gunk buildup underneath , has aged to a lovely pink and black color combination. The beautifully cut all stainless steel case is in excellent condition showing minor wear and no signs of oxidation. The inside of the case back is stamped “Q 106″ followed by “CARAVELLE WATCH DIVISION, “BULOVA WATCH CO. The crystal shows scratching and some dust/debris on its underbelly. The 17 jewels unadjusted “II DP” and “N 5″ stamped manual wind movement is clean and keeps accurate time. After winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 35 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Please note that I’ve found it necessary to gently spin the watch face down on a soft, flat surface after winding the crown in order to jump-start the movement. Given that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. Given that the movement appears to have never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such no warranties, express or implied, are attached with the sale of this watch. While this watch has a solid power reserve of over 38 hours and keeps near perfect time, the original crown is a bit finicky. With the crown pulled out and when turning the hands clockwise to set the time, if the crown is turned too quickly it will come unscrewed. When this happens I gently wind the crown counter-clockwise to re-engage the crown and then push the crown in so that it is flush with the case. I then turn the crown counter-clockwise with a little more torque to further tighten up it. There are no issues winding the crown counter-clockwise. Given the age of this watch and considering that it appears to have only been serviced once in its lifetime, a complete overhaul is suggested. This classy vintage M-135 Elgin is beautiful. The matte black Germany signed dial is pristine, free of any scratches, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, is fully intact, matches perfectly and has developed a warm French vanilla patina. The vibrant orange seconds hand gives off a lively energy and complements the patina of the dial and hands nicely. The bezel rotates bidirectionally and has aged to a lovely faded light pink and baby blue hue. The all stainless steel case still retains its original brushed satin finish and is in good shape, free of any significant dents or dings. The outside of the case back, which reads “Elgin” followed by “Stainless Steel, ” has some marks on it and the inside of the case back reads “Graber” followed by “Switzerland” and 4156. This watch comes on an original JB Champion Stainless Steel USA bracelet which is in wonderful condition, having little stretch. In the photos it appears that the top right bracelet link to the left of the 6 o’clock lug is cracked when in reality it is a small gouge that has not broken through the steel. The bracelet is currently on the lowest of 7 clasp settings and is loose on my 6.5 inch wrist. The crystal has gouging/scratching which will likely not be completely removed with Polywatch and or a polish. Please note that while the dial appears to be in mint condition, some dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring, settling on the underbelly of the crystal. The late 1960’s 25 jewels PUW 1363 patented “M 135″ signed automatic movement looks great. While this watch keeps near perfect time and can be wound normally when the sharply threaded and non-dented original crown is flush to the case, the crown has a tendency to come unscrewed when it is pulled out and turned clockwise too quickly. The movement has a very healthy power reserve of approximately 38 hours after recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions and keeps accurate time with the black day, red date wheels rolling over as they should. A complete overhaul is suggested considering that this watch appears to have only been serviced once in its lifetime (lone watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back) and to resolve the fussiness of the crown. This watch measures approximately 36.5 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm. As mentioned above, considering that this is a vintage watch that has likely only been serviced once in its lifetime and given the stem/crown issue, a service is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old, and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this particular watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. This classy vintage Tradition appears to be in completely original and untouched condition. The matte taupe “Swiss Made” signed dial is pristine and free of any scratches, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, all of which remain intact, match perfectly and has aged to a beautiful golden butterscotch hue. The tritium emits a faint, short lived glow after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which complements the dial beautifully, rotates bidirectionally and the color of the inverted triangle matches the patina on the dial and hands perfectly. The all stainless steel case is in wonderful shape, showing light wear and without any significant dents or dings. The outside of the case back, which shows scratching, is stamped Water+Shock Resistant Antimagnetic Stainless Steel Automatic Swiss. ” The inside of the the case back is engraved “Sears Roebuck Co Swiss Made 10742. The superdome crystal has some scuffing. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss stamped “SEARS ROEBUCK CO” AS 1913 automatic movement with quickset date function is pristine (some black can be seen from the deteriorated rubber case back gasket, but the movement itself is exceptionally clean) but does run several minutes slow over the course of 24 hours. After recently winding the crown 21 full revolutions the watch had a solid power reserve of approximately 31 hours. The sharply threaded, non-dented crown winds smoothly and the quickset date feature works by pushing in on the crown. Considering that this watch is over 40 years old, runs slow and has likely never been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back and the black rubber gasket has degraded), a complete overhaul is suggested. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the caseback to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12 mm. As mentioned above, although this watch runs strong, albeit slow , this is a vintage watch that appears to have never been serviced in its lifetime. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Vintage Wittnauer Geneve 4000 Diver Watch withMint Dial, Orange Patina, All SS Case
This Wittnauer Geneve 4000 dive watch has lived a life full of adventure. It has a matte black “T SWISS T” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching orange hue. On the wrist and in person the patina could not be more pleasing in my humble opinion. The original stainless steel bezel, which rotates stiffly bidirectionally, has lost most of its black enamel paint. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows considerable wear, dents and dings. The outside of the case back is stamped “STAINLESS STEEL” with “WITTNAUER WATCH CO INC, “”SWISS” and “C11 KS 4000″ stamped on the inside of the case back. While the crystal shows significant scratching, in my opinion the scratching doesn’t look nearly as pronounced in person as it does in the pictures. But a new crystal is recommended if for no other reason than to bring out the true beauty of the dial and patina. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss WITTNAUER WATCH CO. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the original “W” signed non-screwdown crown 33 full revolutions, which is excellent for a manual wind, the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown winds beautifully. Given that this watch is more than 45 years old with a movement that shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visibly noticeable watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back), a full overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10 mm. This watch comes on a lightly used black NATO strap that is in excellent condition. While the movement runs strong and keeps near perfect time, given its vintage nature and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. This seldom seen vintage Silvana has an orange “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a momentary glow before quickly dissipating, has aged to an orange hue. While under high magnification the lume on the hour hand appears to be a slight shade lighter than the patina on the minute hand and dial, in person this subtle difference is nearly visually imperceptible. The black bezel, which rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents as near pristine with the lume pip complementing the patina on the dial and hands perfectly. The all stainless steel case, which appears to have retained its original brushed satin finish to the top of the mid-case and sharp chamfers, is in excellent condition showing minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF 20 ATU SWISS MADE INCABLOC ANTIMAGNETIC STAINLESS STEEL” with “10824” stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped 2352196. The crystal looks great. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded, screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown winds beautifully. Given that this watch is more than 45 years old and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. Although the movement currently runs strong and keeps accurate time given its vintage nature and considering that it has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. While the movement runs strong and keeps accurate time, the day and date wheels do not roll over. Given this and considering that the movement shows no visible signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. This seldom seen vintage Elgin day-date diver watch has a silvery champagne satin “T Swiss Made T” signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition, showing light markings that are difficult to see and can only be seen from certain angles. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching golden buttermilk hue. The hands show signs of oxidation which in my humble opinion adds oodles of character and the vibrant orange seconds hand gives this watch a wonderful energy. The silver bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with a bit of tension, presents as pristine. The all stainless steel case, which appears to have retained its original brushed satin finish, is in excellent condition showing minor wear and no signs of oxidation. The crystal shows scratching. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss “ELGIN” stamped FHF 909 automatic movement is exceptionally clean, runs strong and keeps accurate time. However, neither the day nor date wheels roll over. After winding the original non-screwdown “E” stamped crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Given that the day and date wheels do not roll over and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. The black 19 mm genuine MOD. SWISSMADE” Tropic strap with signature “ACIER flared buckle is in fully pliable, NOS condition. Given that neither the day nor date wheels roll over and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
