Why we like it. The precise and high end feel of a Stockli is hard to beat, and at 84 mm underfoot, the Montero AR has the added bonus of all-mountain versatility. Who it’s for. The Montero AR is designed for advanced to expert skiers who appreciate a ski that excels in carving on hardpack while also offering maneuverability and flotation in softer snow. The Montero AR is built using a Poplar and Beech wood core, which combines strength and liveliness for a powerful and energetic flex. Titanal makes its usual appearance here, adding torsional stiffness for superb grip on hardpack along with dampness to ensure a smooth feel through every turn. In 2025, Stockli has implemented Tip and Tail Flex, a cutout in the Titanal which allows the tip and tail of the ski to articulate, making it easier to initiate and exit out of a turn. The Stockli Montero AR became an instant classic when it came out this year. For a long time, the dirty secret here at the shop was that the Stockli Laser AR could do more than just rip a groomer. The ski can certainly carve, no doubt about it. At the same time, it was exceptionally fun in moguls and skiing a little soft snow here and there. With this updated line, the Montero AR and AX are designed to be high-performance carving skis, with even more extra versatility to play around off-piste and enjoy all the mountain has to offer.
