Vintage Le Gran Superautomatic Divers Watch withMint Dial, Warm Patina, All SS Case
This vintage 1970’s Le Gran Superautomatic diver has a pristine glossy black “T SWISS T” signed dial that is free of any visibly noticeable scratching, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The bezel, which smoothly rotates bidirectionally, looks great. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows minor wear and is free of any significant dents or dings. The case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL – SWISS MADE – SHOCKRESISTANT – WATERRESISTANT – TESTED 333 FEET – 10 ATMOS” with “LEGRAN CO” stamped on the inside of the case back. The crystal shows light scratching. Please note that over the past several decades some dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring, settling on the underbelly of the crystal and to a lesser degree the dial. A skilled watchmaker will be able to quickly and easily remove this dust/debris. The quickset date function works flawlessly by either pushing in on the crown or by rolling over a new date and then repeatedly moving the hour hand between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 30 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Although this watch runs strong and keeps near perfect time, given its vintage nature and unknown service history (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or movement), a complete overhaul is recommended to keep it running strong. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 13 mm. Although this watch runs strong and keeps accurate time, given that it is approximately 45 years old and considering that the movement appears to have never been serviced, a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Vintage Clebar Chronograph withMint Dial, Divers All SS Case, Tropic Strap, Orig Box
This vintage Clebar two-register chronograph is an example of a watch that, in my humble opinion, looks much better in person than in pictures. It has a silvery champagne “T SWISS MADE T” signed satin dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visible scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. Any imperfections seen are on the crystal. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching warm golden buttermilk hue. The black bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with the appropriate amount of tension, looks great with the golden buttermilk colored lume pip complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case, which appears to have retained its original brushed satin finish to the tops and sides and sharp polished chamfers, is in excellent condition showing minor wear and oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF INCABLOC ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE” with “20 ATM” followed by “TESTED” stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching which I don’t think looks nearly as pronounced in person as it does in the high magnification pictures. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale, the case back on this one is torqued to what feels like factory specs and is too tight for me to remove. A skilled watchmaker will have no problem removing it. Based on several identical examples that I’ve owned in the past the movement is likely a 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss Landeron 248 manual wind. It runs strong, keeps accurate time and all chronograph functions work as they should. The top pusher starts the sweep seconds hand and the bottom pusher stops it. With another push the bottom pusher resets the sweep seconds and minute counter (right subdial) back to precisely 0. The pushers have a nice catch and release feel with no signs of gumminess. After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 37 full revolutions (impressive for a manual wind) the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 40 hours. Given that this watch is more than 50 years old and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced (given how tight the case back is torqued it may have never been previously removed) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 11 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 13.5 mm. This watch comes on an original and genuine 19 mm one keeper Tropic strap with signature “ACIER” flared buckle that is in wonderful, fully pliable condition. Additionally the original Clebar box is included which is in excellent overall condition with no damage to the hinges. Although the movement runs strong, keeps accurate time and all chronograph functions work as they should, given the vintage nature of this watch and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. While the screwdown crown screws down without issue when it is pulled out to be wound or to set the time the crown tends to skip and not fully engage the stem consistently. Considering that this watch appears to be in untouched condition and has likely never been serviced, a full overhaul is recommended. This elusive early 1970’s Bulova Snorkel appears to be in untouched condition. Under the severely scratched crystal the black “- T SWISS T -” signed dial is in pristine, unblemished condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original tritium on the hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm and inviting golden buttermilk hue. The bezel, which rotates bidirectionally and has lost some of its paint enamel, looks great. The massive all stainless steel case is beautifully and uniquely designed with lovely contours. It is in wonderful condition, free of any visibly noticeable dents or dings and no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “BULOVA 666 FEET STAINLESS STEEL ” with “3 615404″ and “N3″ stamped in the center. While the integrity of the crystal appears to be intact it should be replaced given the significant scratching. The case back shows no signs of ever having been removed and is torqued too tight for me to remove. The quickset date function works by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After winding the original “BULOVA” signed screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a healthy power reserve of approximately 38hours. Please note that while the screwdown crown screws down without issue when it is pulled out to be wound or to set the time the crown tends to skip and not fully engage the stem consistently. Given that this watch is approximately 45 years old, that the crown/stem needs an adjustment and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced , a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 40 mm excluding the crown, approximately 44 mm including the crown and approximately 23 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. Although the movement runs strong and keeps near perfect time, given that the crown/stem needs an adjustment and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced as the case back shows no signs of having ever been removed, a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Until recently this watch was running strong and keeping near perfect time. While the seconds hand continues to move, the hour and minute hands no longer advance, suggesting that the canon pinion needs tightening. There are no signs that this watch has ever been serviced, so after 40 plus years the time has finally come. An overhaul is needed. This rarely seen vintage Avia is in beautiful overall condition. The greyish black “Swiss Made” signed dial is pristine, free of any scratches, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which match perfectly, has developed a lovely golden buttermilk patina that emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light. The orange seconds hand is vibrant and gives the dial a wonderful energy. The silver with blue numbered bezel, which freely rotates bidirectionally, is in good shape. For me the bezel rotates too easily, so you may want to have a watchmaker tightened it up a bit. Please note that in the pictures the outer edge of the bezel shows what appears to look like excessive wear from the 43-45 minute mark. Whatever this was cleaned off without issue. A new picture, the 6th one in with an 8 in the date window, has been added to show this. The case is in excellent shape without any significant dents or dings, very light signs of use and insignificant oxidation where the mid case meets the case back. The outer edge of the case back is engraved “ANTIMAGNETIC-INCABLOC-STAINLESS STEEL-SWISS MADE-WATERPROOF” with “20 ATM” followed by “01-0905″ and “0194” engraved in the center. The superdome crystal has scratching/scuffing. Please note that while the dial is pristine some dust/minute debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring and now sits on the underbelly of the crystal. The 17 jewels FHF 905 automatic movement with quickset date function is pristine and appears to be untouched. Until recently it had been running strong with a healthy power reserve of over 37 hours and keeping near perfect time. However, now only the seconds hand will advance but the hour and minute hands do not move. With only the seconds hand moving the approximate power reserve period was 40 hours after winding the sharply threaded 4.5 mm screwdown crown 39 full revolutions. The crown winds buttery smooth. The date and time can be manually set without issue and the quickset date function works flawlessly by unscrewing the crown, pulling it out to the second and final position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. It’s a great feature that allows you to run through an entire month in literally seconds. Given that the hour and minute hands no longer move and considering that this 40 plus year old watch has likely never been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back), a complete overhaul is needed. This watch measures approximately 35.5 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12.5 mm. As mentioned above, given that the hour and minute hands do not move and considering that this is a vintage watch that has likely never been serviced there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. A full overhaul is needed to get this watch running as it should and healthy for many years of future use and enjoyment. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. While the movement runs strong and keeps accurate time, the quickset day and date functions work as they should and the inner bezel turns bidirectionally, the top pusher is stuck. It had been working perfectly fine before becoming stuck, starting and stopping the minute register and sweep seconds hand while the bottom pusher reset them back to precisely zero. Given this and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is required. Picture #1 was taken in sunlight while the rest of the pictures were taken in cloudy, overcast conditions. The original lume on the dial and hands, which emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching toasted warm buttermilk hue. The fixed Pepsi bezel looks great. The all stainless steel is in excellent condition showing minor wear, no visibly significant dents or dings and is free of oxidation. The inside of the case back is stamped SEIKO TIME CORP. The crystal shows heavy scratching. The 17 jewels unadjusted SEIKO TIME CORP. Stamped 6139B automatic movement runs strong and keeps accurate time when being worn. Please note that this particular movement does not run respond to winding the crown. Instead it fires up after being gently shaken and or spun face down on a soft, flat surface. It stays running when being worn. If the crown is turned clockwise or counterclockwise the inner bezel will move in the intended direction. The day and date functions work flawlessly by pushing the crown all the way in to change both the day and date in tandem. To change only the date the crown needs to be partially pressed in. The day window is in both English and Spanish. I’d humbly suggest that the crown be pushed all the way in to get to the correct day and then partially press in the crown to advance to the correct date. The chronograph functions had worked perfectly until recently when the top pusher decided to stay stuck and not depress. Given this and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 11 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. Given the vintage nature of this watch, that the top pusher is stuck and considering that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. While this watch has a solid power reserve of over 38 hours and keeps near perfect time, the original crown is a bit finicky. With the crown pulled out and when turning the hands clockwise to set the time, if the crown is turned too quickly it will come unscrewed. When this happens I gently wind the crown counter-clockwise to re-engage the crown and then push the crown in so that it is flush with the case. I then turn the crown counter-clockwise with a little more torque to further tighten up it. There are no issues winding the crown counter-clockwise. Given the age of this watch and considering that it appears to have only been serviced once in its lifetime, a complete overhaul is suggested. This classy vintage M-135 Elgin is beautiful. The matte black Germany signed dial is pristine, free of any scratches, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, which emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, is fully intact, matches perfectly and has developed a warm French vanilla patina. The vibrant orange seconds hand gives off a lively energy and complements the patina of the dial and hands nicely. The bezel rotates bidirectionally and has aged to a lovely faded light pink and baby blue hue. The all stainless steel case still retains its original brushed satin finish and is in good shape, free of any significant dents or dings. The outside of the case back, which reads “Elgin” followed by “Stainless Steel, ” has some marks on it and the inside of the case back reads “Graber” followed by “Switzerland” and 4156. This watch comes on an original JB Champion Stainless Steel USA bracelet which is in wonderful condition, having little stretch. In the photos it appears that the top right bracelet link to the left of the 6 o’clock lug is cracked when in reality it is a small gouge that has not broken through the steel. The bracelet is currently on the lowest of 7 clasp settings and is loose on my 6.5 inch wrist. The crystal has gouging/scratching which will likely not be completely removed with Polywatch and or a polish. Please note that while the dial appears to be in mint condition, some dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring, settling on the underbelly of the crystal. The late 1960’s 25 jewels PUW 1363 patented “M 135″ signed automatic movement looks great. While this watch keeps near perfect time and can be wound normally when the sharply threaded and non-dented original crown is flush to the case, the crown has a tendency to come unscrewed when it is pulled out and turned clockwise too quickly. The movement has a very healthy power reserve of approximately 38 hours after recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions and keeps accurate time with the black day, red date wheels rolling over as they should. A complete overhaul is suggested considering that this watch appears to have only been serviced once in its lifetime (lone watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back) and to resolve the fussiness of the crown. This watch measures approximately 36.5 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm. As mentioned above, considering that this is a vintage watch that has likely only been serviced once in its lifetime and given the stem/crown issue, a service is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old, and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this particular watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Vintage Tradition Divers Watch withMint Dial, Quickset Date, Warm Patina, All SS Case
This classy vintage Tradition appears to be in completely original and untouched condition. The matte taupe “Swiss Made” signed dial is pristine and free of any scratches, tool marks or defects. The original tritium on the dial and hands, all of which remain intact, match perfectly and has aged to a beautiful golden butterscotch hue. The tritium emits a faint, short lived glow after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which complements the dial beautifully, rotates bidirectionally and the color of the inverted triangle matches the patina on the dial and hands perfectly. The all stainless steel case is in wonderful shape, showing light wear and without any significant dents or dings. The outside of the case back, which shows scratching, is stamped Water+Shock Resistant Antimagnetic Stainless Steel Automatic Swiss. ” The inside of the the case back is engraved “Sears Roebuck Co Swiss Made 10742. The superdome crystal has some scuffing. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss stamped “SEARS ROEBUCK CO” AS 1913 automatic movement with quickset date function is pristine (some black can be seen from the deteriorated rubber case back gasket, but the movement itself is exceptionally clean) but does run several minutes slow over the course of 24 hours. After recently winding the crown 21 full revolutions the watch had a solid power reserve of approximately 31 hours. The sharply threaded, non-dented crown winds smoothly and the quickset date feature works by pushing in on the crown. Considering that this watch is over 40 years old, runs slow and has likely never been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back and the black rubber gasket has degraded), a complete overhaul is suggested. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the caseback to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12 mm. As mentioned above, although this watch runs strong, albeit slow , this is a vintage watch that appears to have never been serviced in its lifetime. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watching running strong. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
